What learning value did this task have? What would you do differently? Why is a struggle necessary for growth?
The learning value of this robotics class is it helps you learn and know how to adapt to a situation that hasn’t been presented to us before. Similar to that it also helps in general with critical thinking and helps yourself learn how to think outside the box and know how to solve any problem that’s presented to you or at least how to go about the problem. The only thing i would’ve done differently is try to find more examples of robots on google images to help guiding us build the robot as a reference instead of having to build from scratch every time. A struggle is necessary for growth because without out, you won’t know what doesn’t work so you won’t repeat that mistake. It could also give you more motivation to finish a project if you struggle at first so you can get more satisfaction in the end when you succeed.
What skills did you use or improve, and when will they be useful in the future?
The skills I used and improved in robotics include my metacognitive thinking and teamwork skills. Metacognitive thinking can always be useful in life no matter what situation you are in. For example when building a robot you have to link what your building with how your program is going to have the robot run. In order to construct a successful robot with a team you need to identify each other’s strengths and weaknesses and utilize each other’s strengths to construct the most effective robot as possible. There are few jobs in the world we live in today that don’t involve teamwork. In the near future when we get jobs our team working skills will be necessary to work at our highest potential.
